High-end apartment building Kern Residences receives Latvian Construction Industry Annual Award 2017

Kern Residences, the high-end apartment building recognised as the best residential building in Latvia, was put into service in the autumn of 2017. The building was designed by Varis Rungēvics from V-studio SIA on commission from Jūras Holdings īpašumi SIA. Setting the quality of the building as a priority, the construction was entrusted to Castor Construction SIA.

“Kern Residences is a unique concept of a residential building in the heart of Riga, which prides itself on both the choice of high-quality building materials and the top-grade finishes and modern interiors. This is a project that harmoniously fits into the historical heritage of Riga and at the same time provides comfort and modern conveniences to the residents. This is also confirmed by the award received in the competition, which is important for the buyer when choosing housing,” Līga Igala, real estate agent at Latio, points out.

The 4 floors of the house feature 21 apartments ranging from 63 to 233 square metres, including penthouse apartments with a private lift and spacious outdoor terraces on the fourth floor. The ground floor is allotted to light-filled and roomy office space, and the basement offers parking space.

This is the fourth year in a row that the construction industry competitionLatvian Construction Industry Annual Award 2017 took place, involving buildings of various typologies. In the course of the competition, the achievements of Latvian builders were assessed not only on the territory of the country, but also beyond its borders. Spanning a diversified building typology, the competition received 114 entries, covering all of Latvia, as well as foreign countries, such as Sweden and Lithuania. Both large and small projects constructed by large, medium and small construction companies with significant accomplishments in the construction sector were aspiring to claim the awards in this prestigious construction industry competition.

The prizes of the Latvian Construction Industry Annual Award 2017 were divided into a total of 10 nominations: Renovation of Facades, A New Engineering Structure, Reconstruction of an Engineering Structure, A New Residential Development, A New Public Building, A Wooden Structure, A Public Open Space, A Production Facility, Reconstruction and Restoration, in each of which three prizes were awarded.

All entries submitted for the competitioncan be seen at the photo exhibition on Līvu Square in the heart of Riga, as well as on the website www.buvniekupadome.lv

The competition Latvian Construction Industry Annual Award 2017 was organised by the association Building Design and Construction Council in collaboration with the Property Department of the Riga City Council, the Ministry of Economics of the Republic of Latvia, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development of the Republic of Latvia, the Employers’ Confederation of Latvia, the association Zaļās mājas, the State Inspection for Heritage Protection and the agency Live Rīga. The competition was supported by TechnoNicol, ThermoWhite, Peikko, Philosophers Residence, Pillar, Scania and Evopipes.
