The number of housing transactions in Latvia grew 10.4% in the first quarter, while apartment transactions rose 8.4%, and private houses transactions – 20.8%.
Compared to the first three months of 2013, the total number of real estate purchase transactions in Riga grew 8.2% in the period from January through March 2014.
In Riga, housing purchase transactions rose 7.9%. Apartment transactions grew 5.7% and transactions involving private houses – 21.9%. More than 2,200 housing transactions were registered in the capital city in the first quarter of 2014. Apartment transactions comprised almost 90% of them.
In January, buyers were active on the market of prefabricated apartments in Riga. This was one of the reasons for increase in average apartment prices, states the latest market report made by Latio.
