Calendar of the year 2022

In the blink of an eye, the world has lost the opportunity to interact. And the loss is all-encompassing – distance separates everyone and everything. The norm has suddenly become a fragile miracle – a handshake, eye contact, a hug, leisurely conversations, a lively meeting of old friends, now separated by screens. Normalness, peacefulness, and empathy are suddenly hard to find. Having removed the veil of the mundane, we now comprehend the power of human interaction, the authenticity of which cannot be replaced by virtual situations. In cooperation with ISSP (issp.lv) – a platform for contemporary photography – we asked photographers to reflect on this time through the image in their viewfinder. The time when the absence of physical connection has led us to better grasp the beauty of its diversity. The calendar includes 13 out of 207 submitted works.
